Von Frickle should be opening up for someone like King Crimson, but instead we get to hear these extra-terrestrial creatures do their space-age magic right here at Paulie’s, Friday August 5, 2005.
Propelled by the inventive and explosive drumming powerhouse John Ganser, the band creates layers of digital and analog soundscapes, juxtaposed with the angular riffage of electric bass and synth guitar provided by Dan Meyer and Lee Fehr–with Ken Thornton’s blistering electric guitar leads flying over the top. Well, there’s really much more to it, but in a nutshell, Von Frickle is mind-blowing, experimental sci-fi instrumentals played by ridiculously talented humans in alien suits. Is that wrong?
No! It is outrageous and you have to see it. Turn your head and you will wonder where all that sound is coming from.
