I have just finished listening to an internet "podcast" for the first time, courtesy of my friend Redboy at redboypodcast.com. I have to say, I'm quite impressed Mr. Red!
Specifically, I listened to Red's terrific interview conducted with local radio personality Susan Saunders, talking about broadcasting: yesterday, today, and the future.
Some of you may be asking, "What in the heck is a podcast?" Basically, it's an internet-based radio show. The broadcast is saved in digital format, such as MP3, which you can play or download from a website. Just like music, you can then pull it into your iPod to listen to the broadcast when and where you want to. For a much better, broader definition of podcasting, check out podcast on wikipedia.org. Anyway, if this is your first intro to podcasting, it's a great one to start with because it is a podcast about podcasting, so you experience it and learn about it at the same time.
Then returning the favor in a few days, Redboy, as well as Mrs. Redboy, will be featured as guest DJs on Susan's very successful morning show (May 23, 2005) talking about their upcoming adoption of a baby girl from China. So if you are in the area, tune in to check out Mr. & Mrs. Red talking about their Journey To Maggie. By the way, Redboy has 4 different blogs: a family blog, an adoption blog, a moblog (his mobile cell phone photos), and his new redboy podcast blog. Yes, he is a major geek and he knows it.
Oh, by the way Redboy has a new piece of intro music, written and produced by yours truly, along with the help of the great people at Apple Garageband. I'm using my super hero voice. Sounds nothing like 100 Year Picnic, but it totally cracks me up and my kids love it. Here it is if you'd like to check it out: Download Redboy (MP3). The intro debuted on Redboy's show #9, so podcastaway.
