Under the streetlights, she found her voice, circumstance and chance left her no choice. Behind the curtain call, on the other side of the wall, the mirror hanging crooked, uncertain as he’s looking in, inside, behind his eyes, his mind is working overtime, he wonders, “When will this subside?” Go ahead, look around, the party’s over. Everyone’s gone home...
Greener than the trees grow together, greener than the branches grow apart.
She’s sittin’ on the window pane, her reflection in the glass, she can’t see past... The grass is greener than the trees that grow together, than the branches that grow apart, there is always something better than a broken heart.
Greener than the trees grow together, greener than the branches grow apart. Greener than the trees grow together, what’s the weather gonna do? Greener than the branches grow apart, high winds threaten to take these limbs.
Cool rain on her skin reminds her again...it’s cold outside and he still loves her. It’s not too late, it’s not too late...to come on inside, and have a few laughs and a glass of wine, make a toast to making love and finish this night off right. And tomorrow we’ll start over again...
Greener than the trees grow together, greener than the branches grow apart.
